The Internet of Things is a multi-faceted IT led revolution that will impact many facets of life. It will help humanity meet some of its biggest challenges, and throw up some new ones.
"Internetome: The 1st Transdisciplinary Internet of Things Conference" takes place in London over two days (dates to be confirmed soon). It gives respected representatives of all sectors and disciplines the equal weight needed to make progress towards a unity of knowledge, towards defining and achieving optimal outcomes sooner than later. The mission and objectives are described more fully in the tabbed section above.Web Design, Graphic Design, Logo Design, Word Press.
HighWire is primarily concerned with the study of innovation in the digital economy. Innovation is sometimes classified as disruptive. Disruptive innovation comes from outside the normal framework of thought and is therefore often associated with counter-culture, especially in terms of music or artistic change e.g. Punk or The Renaissance. Studies suggest that counter-culture emerges out of certain socio-economic conditions. Kevin Smith (another HighWire student) and I examined the indicators of these conditions and found the corresponding data-sets from the opendata.gov.uk website. We then mapped these to visually identify potential areas for counter-culture and subsequent disruptive innovation to emerge if the patterns of the past were repeated today. This "static" data was then overlaid with real time twitter data searching for terms of anger, disillusionment or political comment. By merging the two data sets we aimed to identify the key social conditions evident in previous counter-culture emergence while at the same time identifying real time angst. Effectively locating the tinder and looking for a spark.
This is a work in progress.
