My past experience is primarily in Web and Graphic Design but I have interests and experience in a variety of other aspects of design and geekery. My undergrad was a BSc in Multimedia Technology and Design at Brunel University, West London. During my time their I spent a year working as the lead creative for a Web Development team (Assanka) also based in West London. While their I was able to work on projects such as the multi Webby award winning FT Alphaville, FT MBA Ranking, The London Paper and The Times. I have also spent the better part of a decade working as a freelance designer. However, education and experience aside, I most enjoy drawing and have an unnatural love for Meccano and Sharpies.
I am English by birth, but I did spend a dollop of my upbringing in New Zealand giving me a love of sport and adventure. Although, I am equally happy homebound surrounded by technology.
Since joining the HighWire Doctoral Training School I have been exploring my interests in play, design methods and processes, mass creativity, democratised design, social media and physicality, predominantly in the world of advertising. Now in the PhD phase of the course, my primary focus is now on how we can use 'the magic of play' and all that entails and instill it into the design process.
